July Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring July's SOTM, which is a funky cute font called Circus Alphabet, a set of 69 stamps.  If you have come here from MICHELLE'S BLOG, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here. This month we have over 40 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. Hopping is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!
This month I designed a 10 card workshop using the July SOTM for all of the sentiments and focused on using only White Daisy Cardstock (along with 5 rainbow colored markers). I made good use of our versatile Art Philosophy and Artiste Cricut cartridges, plus I used a few of our new awesomely crisp embossing folders!  All ten cards came from just 4 sheets of White Daisy Cardstock (plus card bases) making for clean and simple cards with bright punches of color! I love the dramatic impact of white on white cards too - so crisp and pretty. Consultant kit info for this project will be posted tomorrow, as I'm in the middle of revamping that page completely to correspond with the new policies announced at convention.

Now "Hop" on over to SARITA'S BLOG to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants' Blogs to get lots more fun ideas! Remember, the July SOTM is only available until until the end of July.  Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set for just $5!

Disney Team Cricut Layout

So I'm here in Anaheim, and I'm spending the week with my team learning about CTMH, stamping, scrapbooking, and basically having a grand ol' time.
I want to share with you today my entry to this year's layout contest. CTMH asked us to make a two page layout of our favorite CTMH moment. I used quite a long list of materials (all CTMH except for the gold thread) to create my two page layout filled with all the things I love...handmade cricut flowers, bling, washi tape, glitter... It's one of my favorite things I've ever made. I'm going to frame it and hang it in my scrapbook room when I get home.
I put so much time into this layout. I built the background out of 3/4" pieces of Timberline Woodgrain B&T. The black sparkly background was pieced from Black glitter paper and Shimmer Trim, then hand stitched with gold thread. I made the Mickey heads in Cricut Craft Room just welding together our basic Art Philosophy Circle. The yellow B&T papers came from Sarita and Babycakes. I cut a stencil using Artiste for the title and painted it with white acrylic paint for the title, which I then outlined with a black fine tip pen. I added washi tape accents and banners, and then stitched over them with more gold thread. Ooh - and I added that painted polka dot background using our dot embossing folder. Just paint the raised side and press onto your project for a fun effect!
Now asking us to choose one favorite CTMH moment...that's like asking a mother to choose her favorite child. I've had some really amazing experiences with CTMH, from teaching at Extravaganza to going on a Caribbean Cruise. And all of that was wonderful, but the thing that makes me love CTMH isn't awards or recognition. It's connecting with my team and all the awesome consultants who I've only met because we share a love of papercrafting with CTMH. So I chose pictures of my team from one of our convention trips, and wrote some truly mushy (but absolutely true) journaling about how much I love spending my time with my team.

While we've once again this year whooped and hollered for new papers, screamed over new stamps, swooned over the sweet projects, and I even won all the new embossing goodies at general session...again this year my favorite times at convention are definitely the moments I get to spend connecting with my team, meeting my online consultant friends, and just being with people who love CTMH as much as I do.

Thanks for making me love my job, CTMH Family!

Practical Scrappers Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop

Hi, Stampin' Friends! As many of you know I'm down in sunny California at the beautiful DisneyLand Resort attending the annual CTMH Convention. It's been such fun hanging with my team, and I have more stuff to share about that soon, but today I'm here to join in the fun for the Practical Scrappers stash blog hop. You should be arriving here dazzled from AUDREY'S BLOG.
I have three mini hoop projects to share today. I probably should be breaking this into three posts, but I don't have time (since I'm at DisneyLand) and I promised a ton of ladies to post them today at the Consultant Art Showcase tonight, so you get lots of goodies today! The first is this adorable UP inspired hoop, since I knew I'd be at DisneyLand and UP is one of my all time favorite movies. The cricut clouds and little house came from CTMH's Art Philosophy cartridge, and I'm still in shock that the Kraft Keyboard alpha is retiring. If you want some you'd better stock up before I buy the rest of the stock, lol. I tied strings onto the buttons and used Liquid Glass to pile them into place. Then I stitched long stitches from the base of the "balloons" back to where I wanted the house to go. Finally I adhered the house over the strings. The denim this is mounted on came from the leftover scraps from hemming my last pair of jeans!
I have an extensive stash of buttons that I'm still sorting out from my move, but this is how I store them. I got the shelves and the bottles from IKEA!
My second mini hoop used up some paper flowers I had made ages ago using glitter paper and some scraps of B&T. I found some cork letters I didn't realize I had, but I didn't have a "P" so I trimmed apart some other leftover letters to make a P, and coated them with Pink Stickles, so you can't even tell! I didn't have quite enough scrap of the embroidery fabric to fill the hoop, so I grabbed some of the leftover white fabric from making the collar of my snow white shirt for convention and made good use of the pinked edge of the aida. These flowers also came from the Art Philosophy cartridge.
I mean I love a new Cricut cartridge and all, but Art Philosophy is my go to cartridge. The simple shapes are perfect for creating all kinds of fun embellies. I really love the current Piercing tool kit (which is being retired very soon) for shaping my cricut flowers. The back end of the piercing tool is gently rounded, which is perfect for buffing shape into the flower petals against the soft foam mat. I even use the tip of the piercer to drag veins down the center of my shaped leaves.
This kast hoop is probably my favorite hoops I've done so far. I layered on black sequins (which I've had so long I can't remember the last time CTMH carried loose sequins) on a bed of Liquid Glass. Then I added some flower sequins (also ancient CTMH) and some huge chunky silver hex glitter I got at Joann's. It sparkles SO much in real life! Finally after all the layers of Liquid Glass dried I dabbed on Silver Stickles and glued on a few of my favorite star shaped nail gems. The glitter letters were originally pink felt letters, and I was lucky enough to be able to spell GLITTER! Then I used lots of colors of Stickles to make my rainbow of glitter. It took two coats to cover the pink color of the felt.

Next up on the hop is the fabulous ERIN - Enjoy the hop, and I'll be back with more art tomorrow!

I'm at Disneyland!!

This week you'll find me posting live from the 2014 CTMH Convention. This year's theme is an Artistic Adventure, and I'm so very excited to be here. Not only is everything shiny and happy here in the Disneyland Hotel, but can I just say that free wifi is awesome!
Today I'm sharing a little convention tradition. Each year I craft a sparkly team badge for my Stamping Rules peeps. This year I used the Base and Bling hair clips as the base for our team badge. I added layers of Disney Ribbons that I got at the Creating Keepsakes scrap expo - from Queen and Co. (I think). I dyed some paper flowers with a red alcohol marker and formed some tiny cricut flowers from Honey CS. The big mickey head flatbacks I got from Etsy, and topped off with a teensy tiny bow.

I can't wait until my awesome team gals are all here! Convention begins Thursday, but I'll be sharing more art tidbits in the days leading up to convention, and then doing posts on convention activities - plus I've got 3 more hoop art projects to share with you on Friday!

Let's Celebrate!

It's June....the sun is shining....the boy is napping...and there's only 10 more days of Whole 30 and 16 more days until I head off to DisneyLand with my Stampin' Ladies for a week of CTMH Fun! No wonder I feel like celebrating!
I was catching up on my crafty to do list today, and I needed a cute June SOTM swap card to pop in the mail to my team. So I hit the blog challenges and loved the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch! I chose colors similar to the card I did for the SOTM Blog Hop, with some Lagoon added for good measure this time. These fireworks are so easy to roll into different colors! I fussy cut the celebrate banner, and masked with a post-it to get the "Let's" directly onto the card base.
Then I daubed Stardust glitter glitz into the centers of each firework for a happy burst of sparkle. It still felt undefined so I hand drew a line around the outer edge with a Sharpie Pen. If you haven't seen these, a Sharpie Pen is different that a fine point sharpie marker. There's no bleed, and I love them for journaling or small detail work!

Tomorrow I'll be back with the Lollydoodle scrapbook kit pages for this month - hope you have a happy day!
