Day 147: Sweet Koala Card

After getting back from our Disney adventure after Convention I was excited to clear off my table and get my fingers inky.
I saw the new sketch from CAS(E) this sketch and thought of that sweet Cute Koalas set with the koala climbing the tree. I embossed a White Daisy Panel with the Hearts folder. I mounted the embossed panel onto Desert Sand Cardstock. I stamped him onto a panel of White Daisy Cardstock using brown memento ink, then I colored him using Shin Han Markers and a Spectrum Blender. I added a touch of woodgrain washi tape and a quick bit of machine stitching.
You might be wondering where my posts are on what I made for my Convention presentation or what we made for create and take... and I am planning on sharing. However, CTMH has asked us not to share artwork using new products until the new idea book goes live September 1st. So you can take a peek at my Facebook or Instagram for the sneak peeks, and I'll be blogging my secret projects soon.
In the meantime, don't forget about this awesome Jump On It July special where you can get Hostess Rewards stamp sets that are usually only available for party hostesses for just $5!

Hello Sweet Baby Koala Card

So here's the other Koala card I promised. After finishing the first two cards I dug around in my bag to see what else I had for this little dude.
I used this week's cute Retro Sketches sketch as a jumping off point. I stamped that cute koala on a scrap of woodgrain B&T paper. I added chevron washi tape ears and a sweet heart on his tummy. The sentiment is a combo of the sentiments that come in the Cute Koalas set and the January SOTM. The background is embossed with the new Heart embossing plate
I just think this koala is the cutest thing! Tomorrow I'll be back with more pages from my January SOTM Mini Album. See ya soon!

Atlantic Hearts Sweet Baby

I got to go cropping on Sunday. A full day, hanging out scrapping all day long crop. I haven't done that in forever. It was so much fun! At the crop I scored a couple of 6x6 paper pads by Simple Stories and Authentique. I had tucked the January SOTM and Cute Koalas in my bag at the last second, so then this happened.
I used Sketch 90 from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. This was the Simple Stories Pad plus a bit of woodgrain scrap I had tucked into my bag.
I only had the red acrylic hearts, so I colored them with a black sharpie and then gilded them with my fav stardust glitter pen for a new look. Luckily I had some of the Pathfinding cork circles in my bag, which when perfectly with the sketch and this pretty paper!
So I still had the Authentique pad in front of me, and I knew this koala would be adorable in polka dots...so I made a second card. I used a leftover My Crush Holiday Happenings Card for that gold trimmed banner. I'm linking these up to the Heart 2 Heart Old is New Challenge!
Two cards in and still I hadn't touched the January SOTM. So I started piecing woodgrain koalas and pondering. Come back tomorrow to see where my woody little koalas ended up!

And don't forget to pop over to Atlantic Hearts to play along with this versatile sketch!

Baby Cards with Atlantic Hearts

Sometimes a sketch is so versatile, yet so simple to use you gotta make more than one card...
I started out making simple and quick baby cards using this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge card sketch, I was just gonna make one...then I found these little 2x2 blocks (the good things quote, BABY blocks, and the smaller "to the moon") in my Simple Stories 6x6 pad, so I was gonna make three. I was done in like 10 minutes. I did not feel creatively fulfilled - that was too easy! I made another with the teensy baby pictures. And another where I trimmed out the baby Banner from a border page. Now I'm 5 cards in and 20 minutes down, and just getting started.
So I flipped that cute sketch on it's side. Grabbed this focal point from the pile of double sided scraps and did some fussy trimming. All the buttons and doo-dads for all six cards came from a bowl of random goodness where I toss things I'm too lazy to put away to save for later just in case I need a bit of something.

I used the same washi tape on all six cards, and a bit of stardust glitter gel.  I even added coordinating banner strips and washi tape to the inside of each card! I'm linking these up to the Heart 2 Heart No Stamping Challenge...'cause Six cards, 30 minutes, no stamping at all.

When a sketch is good, it's good. Hop over to Atlantic Hearts and play along. This sketch would be awesome for mass producing holiday cards!

Atlantic Hearts Congrats

This weekend I was excited to be able to attend a fun Saturday crop hosted by Scrapper's Attic. I've been lamenting that I missed hanging out with other paper crafters in person...I mean, I love chatting with y'all online and stuff, but there's something special about a room full of scrapbookers and cardmakers! It was a ton of fun, and I snuck in a bit of shopping. Don't tell John! I can't wait to go back and crop some more, though I have to miss the next session since I'll be at the beach...cropping with my Oregon peeps...yay!!
As I perused the racks of Bo Bunny and Authentic I changed my card design for the Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge this week. I chose a lovely 6x6 pad of Simple Stories paper called the Story of Us. On Sunday afternoon I set out to use up some of that pad...but when I broke it open it was totally not the same paper on the inside. It was pastel and baby themed...still cute, but totally not what I had expected. Oh well, right? The best laid plans...so I grabbed my November Stamp of the month and made a long overdue baby card for a special friend. If I get it in the mail this week that'll be a miracle, but at least it's ready to be loaded with good wishes and gift cards!
I stamped various pieces of the flowers using Pixie Ink and highlighted them with stardust glitter gel. Then I added plain old sparkles, but topped them off with a dot of glitter nail polish, which dries kind of rounded and gives the sparkles a much different look.
Here's the sketch. Hop on over to Atlantic Hearts to play along!

Practical Scrappers Ten Things Stickers

This week the team at Practical Scrappers is exploring the many and varied uses of Stickers. I made this board book many moons ago but never shared it on the blog. The book uses just paper and the coordinating stickers, so I knew it would be perfect! It's dedicated to pictures of all the boys when they were just tiny, sweet smelling babies. Sniff!
I edged the Stickers with chocolate ink on a sponge dauber. All the little flower centers are accents either with prisma glitter accents or...well...a bit of bronze shimmer nail polish. I really wanted a finer glitter/shimmer to the accents and my glitter wasn't fine enough. So on the cover, where it wouldn't go near my pics, I just dabbed on a bit of shimmery nail polish and it was perfect! The color ready letter stickers got colored with a marker and topped off with a coat or two of Liquid Glass so they would be shiny and dimensional.
Here's a peek at the inside of this simple and quick little board book. There are a lot of hidden flaps under the Sticker embellishments, where I popped in short notes about each boy and how they were as babies. The boys are getting so big - it was fun to peek back at my tiny babies!

I hope you'll hop over to get a peek at what the rest of the team did with their stickers, too. Thanks for strolling down memory lane with me today!

Mojo Monday 208

Mojo is back (yea!), and I'm (almost) not sick anymore, so here's my square card for the Mojo Monday 208 sketch found here. If you don't know Mojo, once a week they email you an adorable sketch to fill in however your heart desires. This week my heart belongs to the October SOTM called Holiday Magic. I know - it's not available until Saturday, but I'm jumping the gun! I've been dying to play with this one since July!!

The last week of the month is the round or square challenge. I made another of those 6x6 Kraft cards I've been obsessed with lately. I trimmed off the scalloped flap and used it on the main embellishment panel instead. I used Creme Brulee Cardstock and the Juniper blue/green patterns from the Typeset paper packet.

Instead of using this set to make a Christmas Card as intended, I shortened the stocking a bit by placing the cuff image super low and made baby booties! I stamped the BACK of the stocking image in Creme Brulee ink and trimmed them out. I stamped the front curlie-q from the sleigh runners around the edges of the cut out stocking for. a few sparkles on the tops of the cuffs finished off my baby booties in sparkly style!

The LITTLE ONE sentiment cam from the Polka dot Alphabet, stamped in Black ink onto Creme Brulee CS. I like that one because it's cute but still simple to fussy cut. I grabbed my CTMH piercing ruler and got to poking so I could stitch around the outside with a double strand of Black floss. I popped up the main embellishment panel with 3-D foam tape - boy, do I need to order some more of that...I can't stop popping up everything lately!

More art to come today...gotta get caught up again now that I'm no longer suffering from the plague. It's good to be back!
