Mojo Monday Teacher Gifts

I can't believe that it's already mid June and my great big not-so-baby boy is almost done with Kindergarten! His little brother is wrapping up his first year of preschool on the same day, and I'm going to be a teary but-not-crying mess.

Last night at my club crop I whipped up these charming sewing kits as our end of the year Teacher Gift. They are made from the Jelly Jar style Mason jars (any excuse to buy a new type, right?). I cut pieces of quilt batting and placed them onto a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 square of adorable wish-I-had-that-print-in-paper cotton fabric which I then glued onto the Mason Jar lid using the quick dry liquid adhesive I normally use for my Canvas wall hangings. I considered hot glue gun, but I like all my fingers as they are, without burns. That covered piece got glued into the actual Mason jar ring, creating the puffy area to stick in the pins

I covered the now icky looking inner lid with a Lagoon CS circle I cut on my Cricut. I also attached a strong round magnet here with the liquid adhesive and that's where I stuck the needles for the sewing kit so no one gets poked trying to find a needle!

I added ribbon around the outside of the Jar lid. I made a big fluffy bow which I topped off with some paper flowers from my stash and Pearl Opaques. I had purchased some pearly ball-topped pins which I added to the pin cushion on top. Some I added extra double layered paper flowers to with Liquid Glass to make it prettier.
Then I needed a label, so got my Cricut Art Philosophy to work cutting ovals and scalloped ovals. I whipped out my Tailor-Made Stamp Set and did some second generation stamping in Lagoon and Cocoa inks with the scissors, thread, and measuring tape images. I stamped the banner from Remarkable Wreath over top in Cocoa Ink, and topped it off with a few handcut button images from Tailor-Made. I love how having clear stamps makes it so easy to add those tiny stitches to the buttons!

Finally, I used just the last two words of a sentiment from Tailor Made to finish my thought...Thanks Sew Much! I mounted the labels with adhesive in the centers and foam tape on the edges so that they were easier to curve gently around the jar.
Then I (of course) needed a matching card, right? So I turned to Mojo Monday for an absolutely adorable sketch. They are giving us until Sunday night to complete the sketch - there are already gobs of awesome ideas using the sketch posted out there, so make sure you go have a peek!

I used a bit of the Dressmakers Pattern print from Stella and some of the Grid print from Typeset to fill in the sketch. I embossed some Colonial White CS for the background with a neat Cuttlebug folder that had dots all over except for a 1" strip across the short way - perfect for popping a sentiment onto! I repeated some of the elements from the coordinating tag when I stamped the card, but here I could give into my lumpy-bumpy impulses and make them pop more since you wouldn't have to work around them to open a jar full of sewing stuff!

I did some waterbrushing and glitter glitz on the dressmakers form. I used my waterbrush to tint the paper flowers with Lagoon ink as well before topping them off with more glitter gel and Bitty Pearls. I added a couple of the sewing pins to my scissors too!

Finally, because it's a sewing themed gift, I HAD to stitch around the edges of everything...man alive did my piercing ruler get a workout! But I love it, and I hope Gabe and Ben's wonderful, hard working, dedicated teachers will love it as much ad those boys love their teachers!

I'm linking this post to Get Your Craft On Tuesday over at Today's Creative Blog - go check it out!

I'm also linking to the Linky party at DIY Dreamer - cute stuff out there!!

Stella Monthly Memories Club!

Hello, Scrappin' Friends! Monthly Memories Club is meeting Friday night, and here's a spread of pages we'll be whipping up! We'll be using the cheerful Stella papers with those adorable chair stamps along with the vintage looking Bohemian assortment, glittery Sparkle Flourishes, and fuzzy Dark Chocolate Velvet Rub-ons.

The rub-ons are dark, soft, and so pretty! It was a challenge to get them placed accurately, since you can't see through them like a normal rub-on...but they apply beautifully, and add so much depth and texture. I am in love!

The last two pages are filled with photos (almost) as a tribute to my husband of 14 years (on the 20th), John. I need to get that one blown up to 5 x 7...I ordered a 5x7 when I got the prints, but I must have been really tired (it was late at night), as I ordered a 5x7 of my husband standing with all three boys...in front of a big 8 foot tall wooden pig statue. You can imagine my surprise when I opened the photo packet!

Monthly Memories club for Stella is closed for this month - but next month is now open! We'll be working with the new Victory papers doing some fun summer and camping layouts. Kits start at $15 for 6 layouts (plus dinner if you come to the free crop) - it's a deal you cannot beat! click HERE for details.

I CHAIRish your visits and comments - thanks for popping by!

Retro Sketches meets Krafty Girls

Today I have two cards for you with two totally different stamp sets. I feel like I need to get double posts done all week to catch up. Cue the Indiana Jones music - here come June, lol!!

First up is a quick but cute I CHAIRish you card done with the Stella WOTG set (wonder why that one was on my desk...). I used the sketch from RetroSketches for this card. You have until Thursday at midnight to play - go on out there and check out the amazing cards!

For the tag I used a long shape from the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge. I stamped around the edge with Black ink using the small flower from the set. I also stamped that onto the scalloped border I attached to the bottom of the card. I covered my tag in grey dots from the Dotty for You paper packet (only available one more day...my heart is breaking). The file frame on the right of my tag and the heart at the top are also Art Philosophy.

I stamped the chair in Black ink and colored it in using Tulip, Smoothie, and Grey Flannel markers. I fussy cut the chair out, then added a row of Mocha Opaques to the bottom (like nailheads) before popping it up on my card with 3-D Foam tape.

Here you can see the stitch stamp that I used in the background instead of adding another layer of paper. I just love a good stitch stamp! I w2rapped the top of my tag in Baker's Twine and added a few sparkles and Pearl Opaques to bling it up!

I also have another June SOTM card for you. This time I used the Krafty Girls Kopy Kat Challenge - the idea was to stamp lift someone else's design. There were a bunch of cute cards to choose from, but I chose the last card by Amy. Amy's card was an adorable trio of red hearts on Kraft with Pink accents.

I liked the design of her card, so I filled it in with three paper pieced birds from my current fav, June SOTM. I used the Dotty For You and Stella papers, plus black Mini Medley Ribbon and Bakers Twine.

Wiggly eyes make my heart happy. Just sayin...

Take a closer peek at the birds cute little beaks. Can you see what it is?

I used old heart eyelets from my stash for the beaks! I attached them with my Cropadile, then used 3-D foam tape to pop up the birds. I added Liquid Glass to the centers of the Eyelets and clipped their heads down to the eyelet until it dried. This may be the only time I've been in my stamp room wishing for clothespins!

Blog Hop for June SOTM starts June 1st, so I'll see ya back here then!

Ooh - if you have a sec, I'd really appreciate your vote! Go over to the left column and like me on Facebook (in case you haven't already...hi, Stamping Rules Friends!!). Then go to my page on FB - you'll find the link there to vote for my triple bird card that's in the contest from the link. I'm pretty sure you have to be on FB to vote - so I hope I'll see you there! Thanks a bunch!!

Why buy a Consultant Kit?
Q: Can I just buy the instructions without the paper pack?
A: No. Corporate policy does not allow CTMH consultants to sell instructions or templates without the purchase of product. This consultant "mini kit" adheres to corporate policy.
Q: Can you ship to Canada?
A: Yes. There is a Candian shipping option in the drop down menu for the mini kit. The full kit option is not available for international shipping.
Q: Can I just stamplift your project?
A: Sure thing! I love stamplifting (with proper credit, of course). The point of the consultant kit is for you to make use of my professional looking computer generated instructional handouts (which take me hours to put together, in the middle of the night, while my three small boys sleep if I’m lucky). If you want to stamplift my project from a few blog photos and create your own handouts, please do so and enjoy – sharing is caring! But you cannot use my personal photos, illustrations, or wording to create your handout, or ask me for the instructions without a kit purchase. Thanks for playing fair!
Q: Why are the US and Canadian Kits different?
A: Since I live the the US, I didn't realize that shipping a paper packet to Canada would cost me an arm, a leg, and my first born child - crazy! To make it fair, I'll be sending two Mini-Medleys for each kit purchased to our Canadian friends, so everyone gets a similar amount of retail product for their kit purchase, and it won't force me to make the Canadian Kit cost more for shipping (I hope!)
Q: When will  get my kit?
A: You should receive the PDF files for the Workshop Guide and the Consultant Guide/License within 24 hours of placing your purchase. US product orders will be placed within 3 days of the order and shipped to you within the standard CTMH turnaround time for your location. Canadian product orders will be placed within 3 days of the the order and re-shipped to you once CTMH delivers product to me! The three day window allows for Paypal transfer time. Questions? Contact me for more details!

CTMH Convention Lasso a Stamp Set Layout!

Today's the day! The last day to enter CTMH's Convention 2012 Lasso a Stamp Set contest! CTMH sent every consultant this adorable Stars Shine Bright Postcard. Being the paper hoarder that I am, I tucked it away to add to my convention pages...and shortly thereafter they announced this fun contest!

I love the fun color combo of Creme Brulee, Lagoon, and Sunset, so I naturally grabbed my Dotty For You papers and honed in on the Dotty backsides. I also used a bit of Stella across the bottom...even on a star themed layout I've got to sneak in some flowers! Be sure to click on the photo to see the details up close - there's a lot to see!

The journaling on  my layout talks about my trips to lots of wonderfully fun CTMH corporate events - not everything I've been to (that amazing Caribbean Cruise in 2005 is conspicuously absent, as is my trip to Convention in Las Vegas...since I was teaching Extravaganza that year I somehow have pretty much no pictures...sad...) but it's a round up of a lot of seriously good times!

Here's a closer look at the center cluster of Cricut and stamped images. I cut out the stars and stamped each layer in second generation Sunset ink using the April SOTM called "You are..." Then I sponged them with Creme Brulee Ink and swiped the Edges with Sunset ink. The smaller stars and tickets are from are stamped with images from the Blue Ribbon Stamp Set. I added a pic of my team from 2011's Convention at DisneyLand to a Cricut ticket - that "Fun" pop of lagoon  is cut out and popped up. Along the bottom are smaller tickets with photos illustrating my journaling.

I placed Bitty brads in a ring around my sweet team and added more of the stamped and sponged stars. Bitty brads also underline the Stars Shine Bright Title. Thank you for Bitty Brads, CTMH - I love them so much!

Here's a peek at my journaling. It says:

In '02 I brought Newbie Wonder!
paired with a pic of me and Jeanette Lynton!

In '03 I brought my brand new team!
paired with a pic of me and two of my team of four fabulous ladies!

In '07 we brought in the worlds largest pizza...still LOL!
Ginni, Kelly K and I ordered a pizza, ostensibly just for 2 of us...but when it came they had to turn it sideways to fit it through the hotel door. It was the largest pizza I've ever seen. Pics were posted to the team email loop of me in my jammies laying on the floor next to the gigantic pizza. I still giggle everytime I think about it.

In '08 I brought my 6 mo. old son Ben!
He was an angel for the entire trip...but I forgot his Ergo baby carrier, and that sweet baby weight 20 pounds at 6 months, so my back paid for that error! Ben was there for my gal Cathy's big win at General Session, was babysat by none other than Sonja Cox for Create N Take, and Ginni got him his first pair of Mickey Ears!

In '11 I brought 4 fabulous ladies!
4 of my team ladies and I had such a blast at Convention in Disneyland last year...and apparently we couldn't shut up about it, because...

In '12 I'm bringing 8 of my team of 12... and we cant' wait for CTMH to BRING IT ON!

Thanks for this fun contest, CTMH - and thanks for the years of super, amazing, silly, just plain fun Convention memories! I'm practically jumping up and down in my seat with anticipation, imagining what you might have in store for us... See you in Dallas!

I'm SUPER...Thanks for asking!

Here's the last of my Stamping Royalty submissions...There's a lot of detail here and a cool coloring trick!

The stamps are mostly the April SOTM, combined with the new Superpower stamp set and an old fav, Thank You.

I did some faux stitching (an awesome technique described at the end of this blog post) on the center panel.

The 3-D center embellishment was stamped with the superhero image. Then I made a little mask out of a post-it to cover up my hero and over stamped him with the grid image in Pacific ink, then sponged it with Sky ink. I filled in around the hero with Bitty sparkles on the grid junctions. I stamped the top layer with the stripe image and sponged it with Cranberry ink.

I colored in my hero using my plain ol' water brush dipped in a bit of 91% alcohol. I know blending pens are cheaper, but water brushes are more versatile to me, plus I've been using mine for like 6 or 7 years - how I haven't lost it before now is a wonder, but they truck on forever!  I squeezed my pad to make a little puddle of ink in the lid. Then I used my alcohol dipped water brush to pick up a bit of color and started shading. The alcohol mixes with the dye ink and gives you a lot more flexibility in the shading and blending! Perhaps not Copic level coloring...but way cheaper!

I'm getting ready to close the order for the Stella Album workshop for April. If you've been waiting to order your kit, this weekend is the time!  Here's the link to the RSVP info - the workshop is precut, so we have to order early so I can all the work done for you!

Thanks for flying by - have a fab weekend!

Stella Card Swap #2 + another Liebster award!

Good morning! Here's the second of my Stella card swap cards from my CK stamping marathon. In this one I kept the stamping simplete, with just Cocoa ink on the big flower petals...then I added some Lagoon detail with my waterbrush.

Have you done that? Just squeeze your pad to make a puddle of ink in the top of the pad. Then use a damp waterbrish to grab the ink and paint it on like a watercolor - simple, fast, fab!

I paper pieced the Tulip/Sunset center disc...and there may be a sprinkling of staples and bitty sparkles too, but that's it! 2 down, 2 more to come this week!

In other good news, sweet Gina Brandsetter nominated me for the Liebster award again! I'm honored that Gina likes my blog, especially as I think her blog is outstanding! Stella Swap Card #1

Well, I meant to post more pics from CK, but I only got them to the Facebook page. Anyone who saw me at the expo had the distinct pleasure of watching me hack out a lung and growl at them in a raspy, eventually completely gone voice - just the impression you want to make, right?

At least I got my swap cards all stamped up while I was resting at the crop tables in the afternoon. Here's my favorite of the four - a bright, happy Stella Card!

How much do you love the Lagoon color? Paired with the Tulip and Sunset, it just makes my heart happy!

I did a lot of rolling on the stamping for this card - mostly Sunset rolled with Tulip, but sometimes a bit of Cocoa on the edges too. The Lagoon flowers in the circle centers are paper pieced to really POP.

The big flower I trimmed into individual petals and scored down the center of each petal to add dimension. Then I cut a second flower at 1 1/2" on my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, stamped with Lagoon ink, and trimmed/scored those petals too. It really gives the flower a lot of texture!

CK made me bring a stapler to all of my classes as part of the bring list...which I never used in actual class. But I did use it on my sentiment strip on this card!

I'm linking this card to the awesome Color Throwdown Challenge #183.

March SOTM Blog Hop!

Welcome to our CTMH Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! We will be featuring February's SOTM, which is called Thoughtful Tidings, a stylish set of 11 sentiment stamps!
If you have come here from MICHELLE'S BLOG, you are on the right path! This month we have over 50 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's elegant SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. Hopping is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!
This month I added another square to my collection of scrappy wall hanging that will someday be hanging in my home. I bought a ton of these 10 x 10 silver frames at Target years ago, and have slowly been building a collection of single page layouts to frame using special pictures or super big events. I love a nice one-off project - gives me an excuse to go hog wild on the embellishing without worrying about how to write instructions or project cost! In this case, we had the boys pictures taken for Valentine's Day (since we completely missed the holiday photo thing last year). At the end of the session she took a couple of goofy shots of the boys eating some of the mustache lollipops we had made for the boys' Valentine's parties. I love this silly shot where Max can't figure out what to do with a lollipop that has a mustache attached!
Here's a close up of the crafty cluster down the side of my layout. I cut all the pieces on my Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge (which you can get along with $350 worth of fabulous CTMH goodness this month for just $99 when you join CTMH!) I mostly used Bamboo Cardstock plus a smidgen of the red B&T from the new Stella Paper PAck. Then I stamped the banners and circles using pieces of the SOTM circles and swirls. I put a pic of the SOTM at the bottom of this post, because it may be hard to recognize here, even though almost every piece is stamped with it in Tulip or Black ink! I also added one of the original lollipop mustache cutouts made with the adorable "A Paisley" stamp set. I applied a liberal sprinkling of buttons from the Red assortment, bitty sparkles , and lots of the yummy new Twine....plus a two of piercing with my beloved CTMH Piercing Ruler all around the photo to finish off the page!

I know I've said this before, but Bitty Sparkles are the best. thing. ever!! I love that the packets are so inexpensive and allow me to sprinkle on the sparkle wherever I feel a page needs a little love...or I accidentally dropped a fine tipped marker and left a teensy tiny dot where no dot should be...just saying...
Now I MUSTACHE you to  "Hop" on over to TAMYTHA'S BLOG to see what wonderful craftiness she's got up her sleeve! Be sure to visit all of the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great SOTM  and other fun ideas!

Remember, the SOTM is only available for one month, so contact your consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set for just $5!

Here are some other projects I have made using the March Stamp of the Month...

And I'm linking this to the Heart 2 Heart 3-D Challenge too!
