This week over at Practical Scrappers the team is working on Ten Things to do with that oldie but goodie, eyelets! Do you remember the first time you saw eyelets? I was at a scrapbooking expo and when you entered the vendor hall EVERYONE was hammering. It was SO loud, echoing through the hall, and I stood in line to try out this awesome new embellie...and left with my first hammer and tool kit. Weren't those hammers just the cutest thing? Everything I made for a while had eyelets on it. I had four different eyelet setting tool kits, each one better, easier, quieter than the last. Do you remember being the gal at a crop setting eyelets when everyone is quietly giggling and eating chocolate working? Then I moved on to brads and embellished brads and stick on sparkles...and my poor eyelets just languished away. Sad. Lonely. Forgotten. Ok, maybe a brief shining moment on top again when I got my Crop-A-Dile Eyelet
, since it is the best eyelet setting tool I've ever tried (and I've tried A LOT, so quick, easy, and quiet), but overall just hanging out in the stamp room. Poor eyelets! I won't neglect you further!
So I was thrilled with the new Practical Scrappers topic. I decided to combine some of my newest embellies with my eyelets stash. I love how the standard sized eyelets are perfect for matting sparkles or enamel dots. If you have the larger eyelets then you can "double mat" them too! I did have the larger eyelets but the movers were headed up the stairs soon so I had to work fast. Lord knows what they thought when the home owner disappeared upstairs shortly after they started packing and started to machine sew something, lol. I had to dig through my stash container of odds and ends because I didn't want to mess up all the careful sorting we'd done for the movers. I used the sketch from Freshly Made for my quick eyelet creation.
And in honor of Eyelets, I'm giving away some sampler packs form my own eyelet stash! I've got three packs (plus a cute handmade card) to give away. Sign up below and let's crush it!

I like using eyelets as decoration on layouts or cards. Great for threading fibers through. Thanks!
Beautiful card--I love the Ariana paper cut in thirds over the teal shimmer trim--really pretty! I'll have to pull out some of my old eyelets too!
:) Marie
Wendy, this is so pretty. Did you enter this into the Freshly Made Sketches challenge? It's perfect!
I like to use eyelets so I can thread ribbon or other trims through the holes.
You are so funny! I totally just got an image of you quietly and furiously working in your Stamp Pad while the movers worked away downstairs. Nothing like a deadline to get you going! I think I tried making one last card with the little bit of supplies I had left out before our last move, too :) Hope all is going well on your drive to Spokane!
I love eyelets! I haven't used them in so long, but I'm inspired to pull some out now. :)
This is just gorgeous and what a great way to use eyelets! I'm a new fan of eyelets ever since I got my Cropadile several years ago...no more neglecting this embellishment! I don't miss those days of pounding and smashing eyelets at all!
My favorite way to use eyelets is at the top of a tag, for threading fiber and/or twine!!
Well, how about that! What a great way to use those old favorite eyelets. And that dsp is so pretty. Thanks for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
Such pretty details on this! Lovely card. Glad you joined us this week at FMS!
