Day 78: Happy Birthday Balloon Card

Happy Mother's Day, Stampin' Friends! Today I'm sharing a quick and simple birthday card I made for the #jrlcreativechallenge using one of my favorite stamp sets, which benefits Operation Smile.

I stamped three balloons on the White Daisy panel, using a post-it to mask and layer one. I added the sentiment in black in the lower right corner. Then I stamped it again in Sunset ink on scrap cs and trimmed out the Happy letters.

 I colored the balloons with alcohol markers. I added a strip of Breeze cardstock and a self adhesive cardboard border sticker. Then I gave the balloons and HAPPY letters a layer of clear glitter gel. Sweet, simple, and festive! Day 77: Orange You Sweet Card

Here's the last of my Taste of Summer cards for now - I've linked all of them on this post.

I am loving the bold colors and subtle patterns on the backsides of the Taste of Summer papers.  I used the CAS(E) this Sketch #122. I mounted this chevron onto Orange Cardstock that is just 1/8th inch bigger for just a touch of a frame. I split the sentiment into two banners with some careful selective inking.

I inked the oranges in Sunflower ink and Rolled the edges in Sunset ink. Then I glittered the centers. I added a few green epoxy bubbles to pop against the orange. I love me a sweet and simple thank you card!

Day 76: Friend You're Berry Special Card

Here's the third of my Taste of Summer cards. I am fully craving strawberries at this point, and it is not yet strawberry season here!

Working off the cute new Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I laid down a base banner of smoothie stripe washi tape. then I used some patterned paper to make the second banner. I stamped the main sentiment panel with the BERRY special sentiment in Cranberry ink repeatedly before adding the berry vine in Topiary ink. Then I dotted in a yellow border using the bullet tip of my Shin Han marker.

I inked each berry body in Hollyhock ink, then rolled it in Cranberry ink. My team plans to demonstrate this technique (amongst other things) at the Heirloom Pro show booths we are doing in Hillsboro, OR all day Saturday and two days in Puyallup, WA next weekend. It's one of my favorite solid stamp techniques. I topped off the berries with Topiary ink caps, and nestled some paper flowers around the berries. They are attached with Brads that I gave a quick coat of glitter polish. I like to stand my sanding block on one end and push my brads into the block to hold them while I paint on the glitter. Once they are dry I just pop them out!

I made a couple extra of these and stamped out the word TEACHER instead of Friend for our teacher appreciation gifts today. We feel very lucky to have such wonderful teachers working with our boys - they are BERRY special to us indeed.

Day 75: Taste of Summer Lemonade Card

Remember yesterday's blog hop when I mentioned I'd made four Taste of Summer fruit cards? Here's card #2!

I gathered some inspiration from this week's Mojo Monday Sketch. I love the little diagonal corner slash. I built a cup out of vellum, and sponged it yellow for the lemonade. Then I added a 1/4" strip of striped Zip Strip and popped up some lemon slices on foam tape. I adhered the sponged cup over the straw and slices with Liquid glass.

I added a sweet lemon slice inked in Sunny Yellow and rolled in Honey ink for a two tone effect. I made a double layered banner using pieces of the Taste of Summer stamp set. Finally I added glitter to the edge of the glass and over the sentiment banner. Sweet!

Day 74: National Scrapbooking Month Blog Hop

While I love the bright, cheery colors of this special new paper packet, I have to admit that I was at a bit of a loss when first I sat down with this line. I really love strawberries, and we go picking every summer so I can put up a ton of strawberry jam to last us the whole year. It's not canning time though, and we ate the last jar of jam before I got my papers, so I decided to go with a strawberry card to get my juices flowing.  Next thing I knew I had four adorable cards on my desktop!

Using the Cardabilities sketch for inspiration, I paired the bright papers with Colonial White cardstock and some yellow spritz I mixed up in my spray pen. I stamped the BERRY sentiment over the background before I spritzed. Then I stamped the swirl from Doodled Designs in Hollyhock ink and topped it with the strawberry vine in Topiary ink. I topped the "seeds" in the strawberry images with tiny dots of Liquid Glass, which I colored with yellow and brown Shin Han markers once they were dry for a nice bumpy seed effect. Then I added extra stamped images of the strawberry tops upside down to make a place to add my blossoms, which I cut using Art Philosophy.
